ชวนกันมาทำ monoprint แมงกะพรุนจิ๋ว หนึ่งในกิจกรรม Speed-Dating วันเปิดงานนิทรรศการกลุ่มร่วมกับศิลปินเยอรมันจาก Spring Magazin และศิลปินไทย อาจารย์ผึ้ง วิทมน ที่ร้านหนังสือ Fathom Bookspace (ร้านหนังสือบรรยากาศงามย่านสวนพลู) งานนี้จัดขึ้นโดย Goethe Institut Thailand ค่ะ
What skill can we learn in 15 minutes?
Speaking new languages?
Doing easy yoga poses?
Quick cooking from new recipe?
If you ask me, my answer is we can learn how do two small art pieces. Specifically, we can do two beautiful monoprint jellyfishes in 8×11 cm. paper size in 15 minutes and be proud of ourselves. : D

เมื่อเดือนก่อน คุณนิกกี้ สิริรัตน์ ติณะรัตน์ หัวหน้าศูนย์สารสนเทศและห้องสมุดสถาบันเกเธ่ ได้กรุณาติดต่อเรามา และเชิญให้แสดงงานกลุ่มร่วมกับศิลปินหญิง กาเทีย ฟูเกต์ ซึ่งเป็นตัวแทนจากกลุ่มศิลปินหญิงเยอรมันชื่อ SPRING และอาจารย์วิทมน นิวัติชัย รวมถึงแจ้งว่าจะมีกิจกรรมสนุกๆ Speed-Dating ในวันเปิดงานค่ะ นับว่าน่าเป็นเรื่องน่ายินดีอย่างมากสำหรับเราเลยทีเดียว งานที่เราคัดเลือกไปแสดงเป็นงานเซ็ตเรือฝันฯ (ซึ่งในตอนแรกได้แพลนเอาไว้ว่าจะนำมาจัดแสดงเมื่อปลายปีก่อน แต่ด้วยเหตุขัดข้องหลายอย่างจึงพักโครงการไปค่ะ) นั่นเองค่ะ
แล้วอะไรคือ Speed-Dating กันนะ
Speed-Dating เป็นวิธีที่มักใช้กันแพร่หลายเมื่อเราต้องการให้คนกลุ่มใหญ่ได้เวียนทำความรู้จักกันในเวลาจำกัดค่ะ ในกรณีวันเปิดงานนิทรรศการครั้งนี้ เรามีศิลปินสามคน และกลุ่มผู้ลงทะเบียนเพื่อทำความรู้จักศิลปินทั้งสามอีกสามกลุ่ม กลุ่มลงทะเบียนแต่ละกลุ่มมีเวลา 15 นาทีเพื่อที่จะได้พูดคุยและทำกิจกรรมกับศิลปินแต่ละคนค่ะ ดังนั้นภายใน 45 นาที ผู้ลงทะเบียนทั้งหมดก็จะได้เวียนพูดคุยและทำกิจกรรมกับศิลปินครบทุกคนเลยค่ะ

Last month, Sirirat Tinarat (Head of Infomation and Library from Goethe Institut Thailand) kindly asked me to join the female artist group exhibition and activity “Speed-Dating” on the exhibition opening day. She mentioned Berlin artist, Katia Fouquet, who represents the group of German female artist named SPRING and famous Thai artist Wittamon Nitwattichai. I was honoured to be invited. I chose six pieces of Whem My Dream Boat Comes Home set for this exhibition.

What is Speed-Dating?
Normally Speed-dating process will be used when you have a large group of people and want to match them in very short time. In our case, we had 3 artists (Katia, Wittamon, and me-Yodchat), and we wanted all paticipants had chances to talk with every artist within 45 minutes. All participants were grouped in 3 sets, and our facilitators gave 15 minutes to each group to talk with each artist. And when 45 mintues ended, all participants finished talking with three artists. It was a Speed-Dating rotation sequence.

แล้วทำไมถึงเลือกทำแมงกะพรุนล่ะ
เนื่องจากแมงกะพรุนเป็นหนึ่งในแรงบันดาลใจในการทำงานของเราค่ะ และด้วยเทคที่โมโนปริ้นท์ที่เราใช้นั้นสนุกและง่าย ใช้เวลาราว 15-20 นาทีก็ทำเสร็จ (แต่จริงๆ ทางผู้จัดมีเวลาให้คนละ 15 นาทีเท่านั้นนะ!) ดังนั้นจึงคิดว่าถ้าชวนให้ทุกคนมาลองทำแมงกะพรุนกันคนละสองตัว น่าจะทำให้พวกเขาสามารถเข้าใจกระบวนการทำงานของเราได้ในระยะเวลาอันสั้นค่ะ
จากการลงมือทำจริงนี้ เพียงแค่ภายใน 15 นาที ทุกคนก็ได้เรียนรู้แล้วว่าจะพิมพ์พื้นผิวทะเลจากสีน้ำได้อย่างไร ทีแปรงแบบไหนที่ตัวเองชอบ ได้ลองผิดถูกจนเจอพื้นผิวและสีสันที่ลงตัว หลายคนนั้นพอพ้นเวลาที่กำหนดไปแล้วก็ยังวกกลับมานั่งทำแมงกะพรุนต่อกันอีกด้วยนะคะ ซึ่งเราดีใจมากๆ ที่ได้รับผลตอบรับดีขนาดนี้ : )
Why jellyfishes?
I have always been fascinated with jellyfishes. This how I cured my anxieties: I sit and watch them for many hours. They are also my inspiration for my works.

My jellyfishes were made from monoprint paper, messy thread, and clear sticker sheet. For me, it took about 5 mintues to finish one jellyfish. When it comed to Speed-Dating, I though doing jellyfishes was a good choice to introduce myself and my works instead of talking about my career path.

In 15 minutes, they experienced the feeling, in the same way of mine, of doing monoprint with watercolor. When they tried to print for the first time, they may failed because they did not know how to control their brush strokes, then they knew how to print in the way they like in the second or third time.
They experienced how fun it was when they played with textures, without thinking about right or wrong, then they got their own signatures.

ขอขอบคุณคุณนิกกี้ ทางสถาบันเกอเธ่และร้านฟาท่อม ที่ร่วมกันจัดกิจกรรมดีๆ แบบนี้ขึ้นมานะคะ ขอขอบคุณเพื่อนๆ และผู้เข้าร่วมเวิร์กช็อปทุกคนด้วยค่ะ ในวันงานเราวุ่นมากจริงๆ จนพลาดโอกาสถ่ายภาพ Speed-Dating ของคุณกาเทียและอาจารย์ผึ้งไปตั้งหลายช็อต แต่สามารถไปชมภาพบรรยากาศโดยรวมย้อนหลังกันได้ที่เพจเกอเธ่และเพจฟาท่อมค่ะ
งานจะจัดแสดงไปจนถึง 30 มิถุนายน 2560 และร้านปิดทุกวันพุธค่ะ
(และถ้าใครพลาดเวิร์กช็อปแมงกะพรุนในวันเปิดงาน เร็วๆ นี้เราจะมีเวิร์กช็อปลักษณะใกล้เคียงกันจัดขึ้นกับทางร้านฟาท่อมอีกนะคะ ยังไงจะมาแจ้งข่าวให้ทราบกันค่ะ)
