Three years ago, I wrote letters to Eva Lindström, the Swedish illustrator whom I have admired for a long time , with the help of The Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok. She was very kind and replied my letters with the big parcel! I opened it and found three beautiful picturebooks which were Min vän Lage, En fågeldag and Jag rymmer! She signed each book with these lovely drawings.
These three picturebooks were developed to the beautiful animation named “DJURVÄNNERNA.” It was all about relationship between brother and sister, friendship and the fear of loneliness. Eva Lindström also send me the DVD of this animation too!
เมื่อราวสามปีก่อนเรามีโอกาสได้เขียนจดหมายถึงคุณเอวา ลินสตรอม ซึ่งเป็นนักเขียนและนักวาดภาพประกอบหนังสือเด็กที่เราชื่นชอบมากๆ ค่ะ ในครั้งนั้นได้รับความช่วยเหลือจากสถานทูตสวีเดนในการช่วยแปลจดหมายเป็นภาษาสวีดิชค่ะ คุณเอวาใจดีมากๆ ตอบกลับมาพร้อมพัสดุห่อใหญ่ ข้างในเป็นหนังสือภาพสามเล่มคือ Min vän Lage, En fågeldag and Jag rymmer! เนื้อเรื่องจากเกี่ยวกับมิตรภาพและความโดดเดี่ยว รวมไปถึง เธอเซ็นภาพดรอว์อิ้งน่ารักๆ มาให้ทุกเล่ม นอกจากนี้เธอยังส่งดีวีดีอนิเมชั่นที่พัฒนามาจากหนังสือภาพทั้งสามเล่มนี้มาให้ด้วยค่ะ ชื่อว่า DJURVÄNNERNA สามารถชมตัวอย่างได้ที่ลิงก์นี้นะคะ

I met “Lund” and “Kulan” for the first time at Bangkok International Book Fair 2014. Kulan is Lund’s dog. He reminded me of this poem:
A poem should be palpable and mute As a Globed fruit,
Dumb As old medallions to the thumb, Silent as the sleeve-worn stone Of casement ledges where the moss has grown.
A poem should be wordless As the flight of birds.
* A poem should be motionless in time As the moon climbs,
Leaving, as the moon releases Twig by twig the night-entangled trees,
Leaving, as the moon behind the winter leaves, Memory by memory the mind –
A poem should be motionless in time As the moon climbs.

For me Kulan always curious about how much Lund love him. Even though Kulan didn’t say what did he want, Lund provided him “that” things. If Kulan like fried food, Lund will prepare that fried food for him. If Kulan like the moon, Lund will get the moon for him. Actually Kulan wants Lund more than anything else in the world. This picturebook is heartwarming.
ได้มีโอกาสพบ Lund และ Kulan ครั้งแรกในงานสัปดาห์หนังสือแห่งชาติเมื่อปีก่อน¹ Lund กำลังทอดเนื้อหมูชุบแป้งทอด และ Kulan ก็แอบหยิบกิน แน่ล่ะ เราพลิกหน้ากระดาษไปทันเจอ Kulan กำลังเลียเท้าอยู่พอดี : D
Kulan เป็นหมา แต่เธอไม่ชอบกินอาหารหมา “ทำไมฉันไม่เคยได้กินอาหารทอดกับเขาบ้างเลยล่ะ “ Kulan บ่นกับ Lund “ได้สิ เดี๋ยวฉันจะทำให้เธอ ” ว่าแล้ว Lund ก็จัดแจงทอดอาหารหมา (kibble) แล้วเสิร์ฟให้ Kulan อย่างดีในชาม แต่แหม Kulan แอบกินเนื้อหมูชุบแป้งทอดไปตั้งเยอะแล้ว “ฉันอิ่มแล้วล่ะ อิ่มสุดๆ ไปเลย” เธอบอก Lund หน้าตาเฉย ข้างนอกมืดลงและพระจันทร์ก็ขึ้นแล้ว พระจันทร์ดูขาวและซีด “ฉันชอบพระจันทร์จังเลย” Kulan พูดขึ้นมา “เธอชอบงั้นเหรอ” ว่าแล้ว Lund ก็จัดแจงเอาค้อน เลื่อย สว่าน และอะไรต่างๆ นานาออกไปไว้ที่สนามหน้าบ้าน
Lund กำลังทำอะไรกันแน่นะ แต่ Kulan สนใจซะที่ไหนกันล่ะ เธอนอนดูโทรทัศน์อยู่ในบ้านอย่างสบายอารมณ์ (ภาพนี้ชอบที่คุณ Eva วาดให้ Kulan เอาเท้าเขี่ยสายไฟ – เวลาที่เด็กหรือผู้ใหญ่รู้สึกสบายใจ มักจะแกว่งเท้าไปมา – จุดเล็กๆ ตรงนี้เองที่ทำให้รู้สึกว่าภาพนี้มีชีวิตชีวา) A regular space rocket I see, Kulan shouted. You got it, Lund said. Back soon, Lund call. ปรากฏว่า Lund สร้างจรวด สร้างเสร็จแล้วก็นั่งจรวดบินไปอวกาศซะอย่างนั้น ทิ้งให้ Kulan อยู่บ้านคนเดียว “ที่บอกว่าเดี๋ยวก็กลับมาน่ะ หมายความว่ายังไงของเขากันแน่” Kulan ที่ดูเหมือนไม่สนใจอะไรเริ่มรู้สึกเหงา Some say you need to fry the kibble, but you don’t really. You can eat it straight from the bag just fine. Kulan sighed. I do like the moon, she thought and finished the last crumb of dog food. จริงๆ แล้ว Kulan ไม่ได้อยากจะกินอาหารทอดหรอก อาหารหมาน่ะกินมันเปล่าๆ ทั้งอย่างนั้นเลยก็ได้ เธอแค่อยากให้ Lund สนใจเท่านั้นเอง แล้วตอนนี้เป็นยังไงล่ะ ต้องมานั่งกินอาหารอยู่คนเดียว ฉันชอบพระจันทร์จริงๆ นะ (แต่ฉันชอบให้มีเธออยู่ใกล้ๆ ฉันมากกว่า) ตอนนี้ Lund ไม่อยู่ให้เธอบอกแล้ว เขาว่าเดี๋ยวจะกลับมา เดี๋ยวจะกลับมาน่ะมันเมื่อไหร่กัน
แล้ว Lund ก็กลับมา! It’s for you, he said. A ball? The moon! said Lund. That you like so much! Ah, ok. Thanks.
Lund กลับมาพร้อมพระจันทร์ดวงโต ดวงที่เขาตั้งใจสร้างจรวดเพื่อไปนำมาให้ Kulan สำหรับเธอไงล่ะ – ลูกบอลเนี่ยนะ? – พระจันทร์ต่างหากเล่า! พระจันทร์ที่เธอชอบมากๆ เลยไงล่ะ! – อ้อ โอเค ขอบใจนะ บทสนทนาตรงนี้น่ารักมาก สำหรับผู้อ่าน เราอาจจะคาดหวังให้ Kulan ตื่นเต้นไปกับของสำคัญที่ Lund ด้นดั้นไปหามา แต่ผู้เขียนกลับพลิกความรู้สึกตรงนี้ด้วยการให้ Kulan แค่ตอบกลับไปสั้นๆ ว่าขอบใจนะ จะว่าไป จะลูกบอลหรือพระจันทร์ก็ไม่แตกต่างกันสำหรับ Kulan อันที่จริงอะไรก็ได้ทั้งนั้นแหละ ถ้ามี Lund อยู่ใกล้ๆ
ในทางหนึ่ง Lund นั่นเองที่เป็นบ้านให้กับ Kulan Another day. Perhaps a very different sort of day. I do like the sun, said Kulan. เดาไม่ยากเลยใช่ไหมว่า Lund จะทำอย่างไร : )

Pernilla Söderberg, from Alfabeta Bokförlag, was kindly send me the translation of the clip with the presentation of Alla går iväg(written and illustrated by Eva Lindström) by Jacob Felländer, from the 2015 August Prize Awards:
” I think this book is about the most important theme there is. How to be accepted and belong to a group.
Most people remember the first time they felt really lonely. Everyone has to find their one way to be accepted by a group. Frank does that in this book. He makes marmalade out of his lonely tears. Then he invites his friends to be for at taste of the marmalade.
Eva Lindström helps both children and adoults in her books and explains the things we can´t put words on.”
ในงานประกาศผลรางวัลออกัสไพรซ์ รางวัลทางวรรณกรรมของสวีเดนซึ่งให้ในหมวดหนังสือภาพสำหรับเด็กด้วย คุณ Jacob Felländer ได้ขึ้นนำเสนอหนังสือภาพของคุณเอวาที่รับคัดเลือกให้เข้ารอบ ในตอนท้ายเขากล่าวว่าหนังสือของคุณเอวาช่วยบรรยายความรู้สึกทั้งของเด็กและผู้ใหญ่ที่ไม่สามารถบรรยายออกมาได้

เมื่อต้นปีนี้เอง เราได้รับการ์ดขอบคุณน่ารักๆ เหล่านี้จากคุณเอวา และมันก็ช่วยแทนความรู้สึกหลายอย่างที่เราบรรยายออกมาไม่ได้เช่นที่คุณ Felländer กล่าวไว้เลยค่ะ
On the begining of this year(2016), I found these thank you-illustrated cards in my mail box! It made my heart sing. These are the things I can’t put the words on.
