Your Voices, Your Interpretations

Yodchattinyline supports the co-creative process of ‘Collective Reading, Writing & Art Making,’ aiming to raise awareness and establish safe physical and mental spaces for expressing opinions at both individual and interpersonal levels.

Body of the House—House of the Body Workshop: Exploring the relationships between ourselves, space, and text through three books: the Avatamsaka Sutra, the children’s picture book ผ่อนคลาย (Relaxation), and the book กายแห่งพุทธะ (The Body of Buddha.)

Yoga Shala, in collaboration with Yodchattinyline, invites you to explore the relationship between the ‘outer shelter’ and the ‘inner mind space’ through art-making and reading aloud. . Special Guest: Pang—Pattrida Prasarnthong, author of the children’s picture book “Relaxation,” published by Barefoot Banana.
.
Part 1: Body of the House
Time: 9:00 – 10:30
Read & Draw: The Avatamsaka Sutra
.
Explore the physical space of Yoga Shala, from its serene architecture to the lakeside garden. Through simple drawing processes combined with reading aloud the “Avatamsaka Sutra” (a beautiful Mahayana Buddhist scripture filled with exquisite metaphors of nature and deities), we will feel the interconnectedness between ourselves and all things.
.
“…Bodhisattva of the most enchanting flower-light, Bodhisattva of the sun-light and clouds of infinite knowledge… Deity of the golden clouds, Deity who rejoices in flowers and trees… Deity of roots and fruits… Deity who scatters flowers from every pore… Such are the deities of all trees.”
.
*Translated from Chinese to Thai by Supachoke Teeratha, as part of the translation project by the Bodhinandapradipa Group.

Part 2: House of the Body
Time: 10:30 – 12:00 Read & Draw: “Relaxation” (Picture Book) and “The Body of Buddha”
.
“Light body,
joyful heart,
peaceful mind.
Outer, inner,
relaxation.”

“Hair untangled,
hair uncoarse,
hair fragrantly scented.”
.
Read along while drawing and moving your body, inspired by the words from the picture book “Relaxation.” This part blends Buddhist aesthetics through the concept of the Buddha’s body—from the book “The Body of Buddha” by Ajarn Don (Supachoke Chumsai Na Ayudhya)—with the artworks we created in the first session.
.
Together, we will create a collective drawing to explore the relationship between our own body and the bodies of others, cultivating peace in both body and mind before returning to the outside world.
